Preoccupations (CA) + JOYFULTALK

post-punk , hedendaagse noise

For fans of Ought, Protomartyr, Parquet Courts

Cross, dissonant and extremely tight: the Canadian post-punk band Preoccupations will blow you away. With an evocative and razor-sharp sound, they work through themes of creation, destruction and futility. It’s a combination of contemporary noise and psychedelic post-punk music that reminds you of eighties band like Echo & The Bunnymen and Joy Division. Currently, the band is working on their newest album named ‘New Material’, which they say is an ode to depression. After playing at festivals like Best Kept Secret, Le Guess Who, Primavera and Coachella, we feel privileged to have them play in Sugarfactory!

From a secluded outpost on Nova Scotia’s mystical South Shore, junked-analog duo JOYFULTALK conjure micro-climate trance music. Admittedly influenced by the craggy treelines and flowing rivers of Lunenburg County, Crocker and multi-instrumentalist Shawn Dicey’s gnarled jamscapes render natural spaces in a hazy parallel universe.
