On Friday the 2nd of November, singer-songwriter Julian Velard will return to play his beautiful, theatrical piano pop live in Sugarfactory. He makes accessible pop music, with New York as his biggest source of inspiration.
The American singer-songwriter has become a well-known guest in the Dutch music scene. Since 2011, he passes by to play his piano-pop live. Julian turns the piano-pop tunesmith stereotype on its ear with a refreshing, urbane twist: a biting 21st century wit in a stylish package. Think Harry Connick, Jr. with the panache of a Brooklyn hipster, recalling Stephen Sondheim or Randy Newman at their peak. Julian is currently recording his new EP along with Alex Dezen (The Damnwells) which will be released in April.
